While Diplo is best known for his talent behind the turntables, he’s also a devoted father to three children: Lockett, Lazer, and Pace. The DJ, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, shares sons Lockett and Lazer with his ex-girlfriend Kathryn Lockhart, and son Pace with model Jevon King. On Father’s Day in 2023, Diplo posted a heartwarming carousel of photos and videos on Instagram featuring all three of his sons, along with a touching caption about the lessons he’s learned as a parent over the years. “The best advice I heard about being a dad was to imagine being 80 years old and looking back at the way you interact with your children,” he wrote in part. “I always want to be there for my boys, to ensure they know they are loved more than life itself and that they are always enough.” Here’s everything you need to know about Diplo’s three kids: Lockett, Lazer, and Pace.
Lockett Pentz, 13
Diplo and Lockhart welcomed their first child together, son Lockett, in October 2010. These days, Lockett is following in his dad’s footsteps with a budding interest in music. Diplo frequently shares videos on his Instagram Stories of Lockett and his brother Lazer playing the drums, piano, and other instruments. In the final clip from Diplo’s 2023 Father’s Day post, Lockett is seen passionately singing U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” during a family jam session.
Lockett has also joined his father on stage, notably during a September 2023 show in Canada, where Diplo proudly shared a video of Lockett waving the Canadian flag while he deejayed. Beyond music, Lockett’s mother describes him as a “free spirit” with a strong passion for social activism. After the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Lockhart shared a photo of Lockett holding a poster that read “No more gun violence.” She captioned the post: “He takes active shooter drills seriously. He gets upset when kids laugh during these drills because he knows if it wasn’t a drill, they would be dead. I’m proud of him, but I’m also sad for him.
Lazer Pentz, 9
Diplo and Lockhart welcomed their second son, Lazer, in November 2014, though the couple had already split by the time he was born. Like his brother, Lazer is showing early signs of musical talent. In 2023, Diplo shared that he hosts a summer music camp for kids at his home, where both of his elder sons participate. On Lazer’s 7th birthday in 2021, Diplo offered a glimpse into Lazer’s personality and budding musical skills on Instagram. “You love to draw and play with your sword. You just started to learn trumpet. You are very uncooperative, but I can get you to play in my band sometimes,” he wrote, alongside a series of photos and videos of Lazer.
Pace Pentz, 4
Diplo and King welcomed their son, Pace, in March 2020. The model and former Miss Universe contestant announced her pregnancy and Pace’s birth on social media, though she kept the identity of his father private for several months. On Mother’s Day 2020, Diplo confirmed that King was the mother of his third child with a sweet Instagram tribute to all the moms in his life, including his own mother, Lockhart, and King. Since then, Diplo and Pace have shared numerous father-son moments, including trips to the zoo and teaching Pace how to swim.
