Zoe Saldaña may have a thriving career with major roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avatar, but for her, the true joy in life comes from being with her “best” — her husband, Marco Perego, and their three sons: Cy, Bowie, and Zen. Despite her high-profile status, Saldaña and Perego have made it a priority to protect their children’s privacy. “Marco and I have a great deal of respect for the privacy of our kids,” she told in 2017. “We have to choose for them, and part of that is giving them the anonymity that they need.” Still, her kids are aware of their mom’s Hollywood fame.

Identical twins Cy Aridio and Bowie Ezio Perego-Saldaña were born on November 27, 2014, in Los Angeles, arriving via emergency C-section. Saldaña chose to keep her pregnancy private, only announcing the birth after they arrived. Following their birth, she opened up about the physical toll her pregnancy took. “Your body changes dramatically, inside and out,” she shared in 2015. “You grow in places you never knew you could, and you are tired beyond belief. In some cases, your body experiences a kind of trauma that is hard to explain unless you’ve been through it.”
From the beginning, the twins have been inseparable and perfectly in sync. “They do everything together!” Saldaña said in 2017. “They sleep at the same time, they eat at the same time, they even poop at the same time.

Zen Anton Hilario Perego-Saldaña was born on December 12, 2016, in Los Angeles, quietly joining the family just like his older brothers. Though his parents haven’t yet shared his full birth story, they’ve hinted at its uniqueness. “This is something we’re being very meticulous about because of the process of how we completed our family,” Saldaña told in 2017. “When the time comes, and our third baby is a little older, we’ll share it. We know it will be inspiring to many families who are looking to complete themselves in unconventional ways.”
Being the youngest and having two older, identical twin brothers can be challenging, but Zen holds his own, despite the close age gap between him and his older siblings.

Saldaña and Perego were first romantically linked in May 2013, and their relationship quickly blossomed. They had a private wedding just a few months later, which they confirmed in September 2013. The couple shares three sons, and their children bear both parents’ last names, Perego-Saldaña.
