Billie Eilish is opening up about her sex life — just months after saying she would never discuss it again.
In her latest interview with Vanity Fair (a publication she’s been speaking with annually since 2017, when she was 15), the 23-year-old singer revealed that she has now achieved what her younger self once hoped for — “good sex.”
During the interview, Eilish reflects on a previously unpublished 2023 conversation, where she listed personal goals like “making new friends” and “having good sex.”
Responding to her younger self, Billie Eilish shared that she’s accomplished much of the list, including the “good sex.” She gave a thumbs up (symbolizing “mission accomplished”) and confidently declared, “I got there.”
“I’ve done nothing but make friends all year and gotten so close with people I wasn’t close to before, and even rekindled friendships from the past,” Eilish shared. “It’s been a year full of friendship, which, honestly, was what I truly wanted to do. Even though I had other goals, that was the one I really focused on, and I nailed it. It’s been amazing.”
“And yes, I’ve had a lot of good sex,” she added, before addressing her younger self with a smile: “So you’re welcome, Billie.”
This revelation about Billie Eilish’s private life comes just after she stated in another interview that she had no intention of discussing her sexuality or personal relationships publicly moving forward.
In Vogue’s November cover story, published online on October 8, the singer expressed regret over her previous openness about her attraction to women — including saying she felt “intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence” in a 2023 interview for Variety’s The Power of Women issue.
“I wish no one knew anything about my sexuality or anything about my dating life. Ever, ever, ever,” she confessed to Vogue. “And I hope that they never will again.”
“And I’m never talking about my sexuality ever again,” she continued. “And I’m never talking about who I’m dating ever again.”
Explaining her decision further, the Grammy winner said she underestimated that the “things I say will be blown up into the biggest news of the whole world.”
She also shared with Vogue that she’s still learning to navigate the complexities of stardom and plans to be more mindful of her words moving forward. “We’re all babies,” she said. “We’re all little kids growing up and learning ourselves.”
Eilish was previously romantically linked to Jesse Rutherford, the frontman of The Neighbourhood. A source confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple dated for eight months before splitting in May 2023, though they “remain good friends.”
Before Rutherford, Eilish was also linked to actor Matthew Tyler Vorce for just over a year, from April 2021 to May 2022, and to Brandon Q. Adams. She opened up about her relationship with Adams, the rapper known as 7:AMP, in her 2021 Apple TV+ documentary, Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry.
