The ‘Beverly Hills: 90210’ star and her ex, Dean McDermott, have five children together — Liam, Stella, Hattie, Finn, and Beau.
Tori Spelling’s daughter didn’t exactly have the jolliest Christmas last year.
In this week’s episode of her podcast misSPELLING, the Beverly Hills: 90210 actress, 51, revealed that her 16-year-old daughter Stella missed out on receiving a gift last Christmas because she was busy helping her mom shop for presents for her siblings instead.
“Dean used to help me wrap all the gifts, but now I’m a single mom, with separate households,” Spelling explains, referring to her ex-husband, Dean McDermott, with whom she shares five children: Liam, 17, Stella, Hattie, 13, Finn, 12, and Beau, 7.
“So Stella helps me wrap the gifts, and it’s just… poor thing. She shops for the gifts with me. So last year, I’m not kidding, Stella didn’t get a Christmas present at all,” Spelling adds.
When asked why, Spelling explained, “because I waited until the last minute, and then I was doing it all alone.”
“She had to help me. She felt bad because it was like, ‘Oh, I have to help, and I want all the siblings…'” she continues, trailing off. “Her big thing is she doesn’t want our lives to [be impacted]. So she’s really focused on that.”
“This is tradition. This is what we’ve always done. We’re gonna do it. I’ll do it with you,” Spelling recalls her daughter saying. “I don’t care about my gift. I don’t want a gift.”
Spelling explains that because her daughter knows how stressed she gets during the holidays, she was more focused on ensuring they had a wonderful Christmas together. Even though Spelling had Stella’s wish list, she didn’t have time to shop for her gift since they were both out shopping for the rest of the family.
“She stayed up all night with me wrapping gifts. I think she and I finally went to bed at like 4 in the morning,” Spelling recalls. “And then, of course, Beau was up at like 7, saying, ‘Let’s open gifts!’ And we did.”
“Stella was up all night putting together this motorized car for Beau to get in and drive, and I was just like, ‘I’m so sorry, baby,'” she adds. “So, anyway, this year I’d love to make it right and finish strong. This year, I said to her, ‘Okay, I need your Christmas list.’ And she said, ‘Well, it’s just a few things on it.'”
