Thomas rhett is a proud girl dad—four times over! The country star and his wife, lauren akins, were high school sweethearts before tying the knot in 2012. Since then, they’ve welcomed four daughters: willa gray, 9, ada james, 6, lennon love, 5, and lillie carolina, 3. Appearing on the ellen degeneres show, rhett called his family “The light” of his world and admitted he fully embraces the “Stereotypical dad” life. “My bus is filled with nothing but kid toys,” he joked in may 2021. “My shorts are getting shorter, I’m taking a big camera everywhere I go—just trying to capture all these moments and really lean into dad life.”

Just a month earlier, the “Marry me” singer spoke to about what he’s learned as a father—and what his daughters have taught him. “I just love spending one-on-one time with each of them, which I didn’t realize was so important before,” he shared. “I used to think as long as the five of us were together, we were good. But the longer I’ve been a dad, the more I see that each child really does need that one-on-one time—just like lauren and I need time together.”

Rhett also revealed that he and akins aren’t done growing their family. “My wife has wanted five kids forever,” he said. “So I’m sure we’ll have at least that many. I’d love a son, but honestly, I’m so used to this ‘girl dad’ life, I don’t even know what I’d do with a boy!”

Willa Gray Akins, 9

Born in november 2015 in uganda, willa gray officially became rhett and akins’ daughter in may 2017. At the time, the couple had been struggling to conceive when lauren met willa at a children’s home in uganda. They immediately started the adoption process—and then lauren got pregnant just months later. When they brought willa home to nashville, she was 18 months old, and lauren was in her third trimester with ada james.

“When I met willa, her story was pretty intense,” akins recalled in 2017. “All orphans have heartbreaking stories, but it felt like this baby was meant to be ours.”

Rhett has called willa a natural nurturer. “Willa gray is a mother spirit, a nurturer spirit,” he said in april 2021. “If ada james or lennon is crying, she’s the first one there, like, ‘are you okay? Do you need your blanket? You want me to get you some milk?’” akins thinks her oldest has a wild streak too—especially after watching her on a lake trip in june 2021. “After seeing willa gray on that tube, I think she’s gonna take after mama and be our little daredevil,” she wrote on instagram.

Ada James Akins, 7

Born on august 12, 2017, after 36 hours of labor, ada james arrived at 10:28 p.M. In nashville. She weighs 7 pounds 3 ounces and is so stinking cute I just can’t take it!” akins gushed on instagram. “Thomas rhett and I are so in love. And willa gray is thrilled to finally have a baby sister!” Rhett has called ada “Extremely sassy.” in april 2021, he described her strong personality: “The first person to say, ‘hey, baby, let’s put on pajamas,’ gets, ‘well, I don’t really want to right now.’”

But sass aside, rhett and lauren emphasize one core value in their household. “We preach kindness like it’s our job,” he said. “That’s our standard. ‘we treat with kindness, and we treat with love’—that’s what we say in their prayers at night.” however, he admitted ada was still getting the message: “I can’t tell you how many times a day I look at ada and say, ‘let’s be kind!’ and she just looks at me like…” he trailed off, mimicking her reaction. “But she’s 3,” he added with a knowing smile.

Lennon Love Akins, 5

Rhett and akins welcomed lennon love on february 10, 2020, at 8:30 a.M. In nashville. She weighed 9 lbs., 2 oz.

“It was such a joy watching this little angel be born,” rhett wrote on instagram. “My wife is just incredible through the whole birth 🙌🏼 watching our kids meet lennon for the first time was probably the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen. Ada james and willa gray are going to be the best big sisters on the planet.”

In april 2021, rhett described lennon as “Just as much of a firecracker as ada james,” despite being the quietest of the bunch. Akins, meanwhile, celebrated lennon’s first birthday by calling her “A whole personality” already.

Lillie Carolina Akins, 3

The couple’s fourth daughter, lillie carolina, was born on november 15, 2021, in nashville. 7.5 pounds of pure joy,” rhett announced. “Lauren, you are my hero. Watching a child be born is a literal miracle. Four under six—here we go!” Akins echoed the excitement in her own post. “Our little miss lillie carolina akins 💕 was born on november 15th, and our family couldn’t be more over the moon about our littlest joy.”

The couple had found out they were expecting lillie during a ski trip, sharing the news publicly six months before she was born. “Well… we are pregnant again!” rhett posted on instagram, adding, “We are pumped to be having our fourth girl 🙌🙌🙌. Feel free to buy all the merch you want, knowing all proceeds are going straight to these weddings I’ll be paying for one day!” The pair announced the pregnancy on stage in fort worth, texas—akins’ mom’s hometown.
