The actor and his wife, Jackie Sandler, welcomed their first child, Sadie, in 2006. “Fatherhood’s fun. It’s great,” Adam remarked shortly after his first daughter’s birth. “I love that kid… I was dying to do it.” Sadie’s younger sister, Sunny, was born in late 2008, and since then, the Sandler family has maintained a low profile regarding their personal lives. “My kids bring me the most joy, but it requires life adjustments,” Adam explained to HuffPost in 2018. “I don’t go out to meet anyone after 9:30 at night. I eat dinner at 6 or 7. If someone keeps me out till 10:30, I’m grumpy all the next day because I’m tired.” Over the years, Sadie and Sunny have featured in several of their father’s movies, including his 2020 Netflix film, Hubie Halloween.
However, it was only in 2023 that they took on leading roles. Netflix’s You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah stars seventh-grader Stacy (Sunny) planning her ideal bat mitzvah amidst a fallout with her best friend, encouraged by her mom (Idina Menzel) and sister (real-life sibling Sadie) to reconcile. The family-packed movie also features Adam as Stacy’s father and Jackie as a character named Gabi. As a top-tier Hollywood actor, Adam has access to virtually any event. In October 2023, he took his daughters to the Los Angeles premiere of Taylor Swift’s concert film, where the pop icon snapped photos with Sadie and Sunny.
Sadie Sandler, 18
Adam and Jackie greeted their first daughter, Sadie Madison Sandler, on May 6, 2006. The comedian humorously spoke about his newborn’s lack of focus soon after her birth. “Every time I think she likes me [while playing and talking with her], she’s just staring at my forehead,” he quipped. At 14 months, Adam revealed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that he had become Sadie’s favorite person, joking, “We’re very close with this child – everything revolves around her, and suddenly, she worships me. It used to be my wife, but now, it’s all Sandler. Anything I do, she wants to do.” Sadie began joining her father on sets early on, making her debut in his 2008 film, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, followed by a minor role in Bedtime Stories where Adam plays an uncle whose exaggerated bedtime stories cause chaos for his niece and nephew. Adam admitted that this mirrored his own experiences with nightly stories for Sadie.
Sunny Sandler, 15
Adam and Jackie celebrated the arrival of their second daughter, Sunny Madeline Sandler, on November 2, 2008. Announcing the birth on his website, Adam described the newest family member as “beautiful” and affirmed that “everyone is happy and healthy.” Like her sister, Sunny has appeared in numerous films alongside her father, including Grown Ups, Blended, and Murder Mystery. Despite accruing a significant number of acting credits from her father’s projects, both Sunny and Sadie are considering independent careers. “I hear them sometimes say, ‘I wanna be in a movie,’ and when I remind them of their roles, they say, ‘Not yours.’ ‘Oh, Daddy’s not good enough!'” Adam shared on The Drew Barrymore Show. Besides acting, Sunny also has a talent for singing, showcased during one of Adam’s comedy shows in June 2019 where she sang “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman, earning a standing ovation.
