Amanda Seyfried has embraced the role of mom with her two children, Nina and Thomas. The Mamma Mia! actress and her husband, Thomas Sadoski, whom she met in 2015 while starring in the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By, have built a beautiful family together. Seyfried became a first-time mom in 2017 when their daughter Nina was born, and the experience was so moving that she considered becoming a doula. “I was like, this is the most amazing thing I’ve ever been a part of. I have to be there for women; childbirth is amazing,” she told Marie Claire. She even spoke with her doula about how to get involved in supporting others through childbirth.
Seyfried and Sadoski’s first child, Nina, was born on March 24, 2017, just weeks after the couple eloped while Seyfried was nine months pregnant. The actress revealed how important it was to her to be married before giving birth, explaining, “I really wanted to have rings on in the hospital.” Reflecting on the surprise pregnancy, Seyfried shared, “We knew we wanted to be together and make a baby, but you know, sometimes things happen and it’s the biggest blessing in the world.” Nina’s birth was a life-changing experience, with Seyfried describing the labor as “quiet and beautiful” and one she would “do again in a heartbeat.” After Nina’s birth, the family relocated from California to a farm in New York’s Catskill Mountains for a more grounded, peaceful life.
Seyfried and Sadoski’s second child, Thomas, was born on September 28, 2020, after a private pregnancy. They announced the arrival of their son in a statement supporting INARA and War Child USA, causes close to their hearts. Seyfried later shared that labor with Thomas was more complicated than with Nina, adding an extra layer of trauma to the experience. However, there were some upsides to having a baby during the pandemic, including being able to attend virtual events like the 2021 Golden Globes.
Amanda and Thomas’s relationship moved quickly from co-stars to spouses. They met in 2015 while working on The Way We Get By and later starred together in The Last Words, where their on-screen romance quickly blossomed into a real-life love story. After just a few months of dating, they were engaged in 2016 and eloped in a private ceremony in March 2017. The couple now lives on their farm in upstate New York, where they’re raising their two children. Sadoski has shared how much he admires and respects Seyfried, calling her “the person that I love, admire, and respect most in the world.
