Legendary rock star Billy Idol has been captivating audiences for over four decades, yet he always finds time for his children and grandchildren. Born William Michael Albert Broad, Idol is a proud father of three: sons Brant Broad and Willem Wolfe Broad, and daughter Bonnie Blue Broad. Through Brant and Bonnie, he’s also a grandfather to four. In May 2024, the “White Wedding” icon shared his thoughts with PEOPLE about balancing his passion for music and his love for family, saying, “It is really lovely. It’s nice, I’ve got the best of both worlds. It’s all worked out in an incredible way that I could never imagine.”

Broad Brant
Idol is the proud father of son Brant Broad. Brant and his wife, Teresa, have two children together: a daughter, Mackenzie, born in June 2020, and a son, Mason, born in July 2022. Interestingly, Mason shares a birthday with his great-grandfather, Billy Idol’s father. Happy Birthday Mason, my grandson who is 2 years old today, born on the same day as his great-grandfather W.A. Broad, July 6th, so I can always remember his birthday… here he is with his dad, my son Brant @tnorthbroad87,” Idol wrote on Instagram in 2024 while celebrating Mason’s second birthday.
Willem Wolfe Broad
Idol welcomed his son, Willem Wolfe Broad, in the 1980s with Perri Lister, a former member of Hot Gossip. As a child, Willem often joined his father at public events, including the 1997 local premiere of The Lost World: Jurassic Park and a circus outing in 1999. Now grown, Willem has carved out his own path in entertainment, much like his famous father. According to his website, he is a “musician, artist, and DJ creating sonic and visual worlds in Los Angeles, California.” His musical influences include The Velvet Underground, Patience and Prudence, DJ Soul Clap, and Aphex Twin.
Bonnie Blue Broad
Idol’s daughter, Bonnie Blue Broad, was born in the 1980s. He shares Bonnie with his ex, Linda Mathis. Unlike her father, Bonnie chose a path outside of the entertainment industry. In a 2012 interview with the New York Daily News, Idol shared that she didn’t “exhibit any interest in the business” and instead pursued a college degree in writing. Despite staying out of the spotlight, Bonnie has supported her father over the years, attending events like a 2008 Emmys party and posing alongside him for Harper’s Bazaar Singapore. My hope for my children is that they are happy and find love and a purpose in life that is gloriously fulfilling,” Idol expressed in the magazine feature.
