Chandra Wilson has mastered the art of balancing her demanding career with the joys of parenting her three children: Sarina, Joylin, and Michael. The “Grey’s Anatomy” star has shared her life with her partner of over three decades, though details about the father of her children remain scant. In a 2007 interview with Parade, she disclosed, “He and I have a 19-year relationship. We go back and forth, but it works for us.” Nearly two decades after rising to fame on the Shonda Rhimes medical drama, Wilson revisited the show alongside her daughter. “I did go back with my daughter to start watching Grey’s,” she mentioned on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” in 2021, observing how her daughter could binge-watch episodes, unlike her preference for one a day. Balancing her packed acting schedule with family life has been a challenge, one she discussed on the KTLA podcast “Diva Defined With Sheryl Lee Ralph” in 2019, crediting a shared family calendar for her success.

Sarina McFarlane, 31

Wilson’s eldest, Sarina, was born on August 2, 1993. Pursuing a path distinct from her mother’s, Sarina completed her degree in cinema television arts screenwriting from California State University, Northridge in June 2021, a journey extended to nine years due to a major change and health challenges. At 16, Sarina experienced severe symptoms initially mistaken for food poisoning, which persisted alarmingly. In 2017, Wilson told about the ordeal that led to Sarina’s diagnosis with mitochondrial dysfunction and cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS), after nearly a year of debilitating symptoms.

Joylin McFarlane-Fairman, 23

Joylin, Wilson’s second child, was born in late 1998. She graduated from the University of La Verne in 2020 with a degree in biology and computational biology, furthering her education with a master’s in business analytics from American University in 2021. Currently a business research analyst, Joylin also nurtures a passion for nail art, even crafting red carpet designs for her mother. She married Grant Fairman in December 2023, whom she met in high school.

Michael McFarlane, 18

Born on October 30, 2005, Michael’s entry into the world coincided with his mother’s second season on “Grey’s Anatomy,” where her pregnancy was incorporated into the storyline. Balancing life with three children, Wilson shared her strategies with TV with MeeVee, likening her real-life role to her character Dr. Bailey’s, blending professional and personal life seamlessly. Recently, she shared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” that Michael had successfully obtained his learner’s permit on his first attempt, expressing her aspirations for his future happiness and fulfillment, reflecting her deep bond with her children.
