Chelsea Houska may have started her journey as a single mom to her daughter Aubree on Teen Mom 2, but the reality star has since grown her family with husband Cole DeBoer, welcoming three more children: Watson, Layne, and Walker. Houska first appeared on MTV in 2009 on 16 and Pregnant, where she gave birth to her eldest daughter with her ex-boyfriend, Adam Lind. She joined the Teen Mom 2 cast when the show debuted in 2011, documenting her custody battles with Lind and her blossoming relationship with DeBoer. After 11 years on the popular MTV series, Houska announced her departure via Instagram in 2020, citing her children’s privacy as a major factor in her decision, something she wasn’t willing to compromise again.
Aubree Skye Lind DeBoer was born in South Dakota on September 7, 2009—Houska’s first day as a high school senior. While Lind is her biological father, DeBoer has been a significant part of her life since he met Houska in 2014 when Aubree was 5 years old. Much of Aubree’s early years were documented on MTV, including her expressing the desire to share the same last name as her younger brother, Watson. After DeBoer and Houska’s second wedding in 2017, that wish was granted. Given how many followed Aubree’s story from the beginning, Houska told E! News in 2023 that many Teen Mom 2 viewers were surprised to see her as a teenager now. And when it comes to teenagers, her mom thinks she’s the coolest.
On January 25, 2017, Houska and DeBoer welcomed their first child together, a son named Watson Cole. “Welcome to the world, sweet boy,” Houska wrote alongside a black-and-white Instagram photo that captured the newborn’s tiny hands. According to Refinery29, the couple had announced in a since-deleted blog post that they were expecting a baby in July 2016. “We are beyond excited for this journey and can’t wait to share it with you all,” Houska shared. “Big sister Aubree is also extremely excited, and it’s no secret that she’s hoping for a girl.” Houska and DeBoer tied the knot in October 2016, and a few months later, Watson was born. Houska noted in another since-deleted blog post that DeBoer was already embracing fatherhood, writing, “He’s already planning his future hunting and fishing trips, haha!
Houska’s second daughter, Layne Ettie DeBoer, was born on August 29, 2018—Houska’s 27th birthday. The arrival of this new addition to the DeBoer family was documented on Teen Mom 2, capturing the emotional moment when Houska realized she and her daughter would share the same birthday. “Did you do this on purpose so I could have her on my birthday?” she asked DeBoer, who nodded and replied, “Yeah! It’s a good gift … Gonna be just as amazing as you are.” In 2019, Houska told E! News that Layne had inherited some of her husband’s traits. “I feel like [baby Layne] is like Cole,” she said. “She’s very laid back. She’s easy, she’s smiley, she’s chill, very chill.” Despite her laid-back nature, Layne also seems to find herself in plenty of messy situations. On Instagram, Houska describes her as a funny “wild child” who “loves back tickles, sushi, and animals.” In one 2023 Instagram post, Houska shared a close-up video of Layne’s face covered in some sort of pink goop.
Walker June DeBoer was born on the same day as her older brother Watson: January 25, 2021. Houska announced Walker’s arrival on Instagram, mentioning that her daughter “surprised” the family with her timing. Her husband shared on his account that Walker instantly stole his heart. “I always wanted to be a father. I never would have guessed I would be blessed with four beautiful children,” DeBoer wrote in another Instagram post. “Blessed with our new baby girl. She has a daddy who will love her with all his heart and then some.” Houska echoed similar feelings on her Instagram after Walker’s birth, writing, “What a life we have built,” alongside a hospital selfie with her newborn and her husband. On Houska’s Instagram, Walker is often seen helping out in the family’s garden, hanging with their farm animals, and trying to keep up with her older siblings. Whether it’s the shared birthday or something else, Houska says her youngest is a lot like her big brother.
