Erica Mena's Three Kids: Meet Sons King and Legend, and Daughter Safire

Former Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Erica Mena was just 19 years old when she welcomed her first child, son King, with rapper Raul Conde. “Obviously there was no other option. I have to keep my baby,” she expressed during a sit-down interview with Carlos King in 2023. Over a decade later, Mena welcomed two more children with Safaree Samuels: daughter Safire and son Legend. Mena and Samuels tied the knot in October 2019, but she filed for divorce less than two years later while pregnant with Legend. Reflecting on her journey, Mena credited the arrival of her firstborn son King with setting “the tone for how” she would “hustle moving forward.” She explained, “As a young mom, you don’t realize the layers to being a mom. I just worried most about providing, and I wanted him to always have what he needed. Kids didn’t ask to be here, so if you have these kids, you better do right by them.
King Conde, 17
Erica Mena welcomed her first child, son King, in 2007 with rapper Conde. Describing King as a “good baby” who hardly cried, she also credited her older sister with helping her “fuel King’s mind” and keeping him on top of his education. The proud mom shared that King has “always been very, very intelligent” and there were times she’d get called into school because he corrected his teacher. In the same interview, Mena revealed that King, then 16, was set to graduate high school that year. “I am so proud,” she gushed. While Mena has lived much of her life in the public eye, King has preferred to stay out of the spotlight. According to the model, King is “very vocal” about “not wanting to be in the public eye.” Mena has respected his privacy, only sharing photos of him on rare occasions, such as a sweet moment in 2021 when he held his little sister Safire’s hand.
Safire Majesty Samuels, 4
Mena’s second child, daughter Safire Majesty Samuels, was born on February 3, 2020. She shares Safire with her ex-husband and former Love & Hip Hop: New York costar Safaree Samuels. Before Safire’s arrival, Mena and Samuels hosted a Met Gala-themed baby shower. “We thought, ‘What can we do to top our wedding?’ I came up with the idea of a Met Gala theme so people could be creative, go all out, sparkle, glam, pink hair,” Mena recalled. Samuels announced Safire’s birth on Instagram with a photo of her hand wrapped around one of his fingers, writing, “These past 24 hours have been an adventure! I’m a part of the #girldad club now.” Mena waited until Safire was 9 months old to share photos of her daughter’s face, captioning the adorable post, “The BEST part of 2020 🌹 My Safire Majesty @safiremajesty.
Legend Brian Samuels, 3
Legend Brian Samuels, Mena’s third child and second with Samuels, was born in June 2021. A month before Legend’s arrival, Mena filed for divorce from Samuels. After his birth, Legend spent time in the NICU, which left the reality star feeling “guilty, confused and scared.” She reflected on Instagram, “This whole experience has taught me how important it is to protect my peace and turn my pain into power. It has also given me a different type of strength for not only me but my kids. King, Safire, Legend, I promise you, your mommy will make you proud. No more settling and fighting for anything that doesn’t deserve me because you three forever deserve the best of me.
Erica Mena's Married Life
In December 2018, Erica Mena became engaged to rapper and television personality Safaree Samuels. They married on October 7, 2019, at the White Castle in New Jersey. Their daughter, Safire, was born in 2020. On May 4, 2021, Mena announced that she and Samuels were expecting their second child together.
