Ewan McGregor is a father to five children. The acclaimed Star Wars actor married his first wife, French production designer Eve Mavrakis, in the summer of 1995. Just seven months after tying the knot, they welcomed their first child, Clara. The couple’s family grew with the arrival of another daughter, Esther, in 2001. They later expanded their brood by adopting two more daughters, Jamyan and Anouk.
“They’re my everything,” McGregor revealed to The Hollywood Reporter in April 2021 about his four daughters. McGregor and Mavrakis separated in May 2017 after 22 years of marriage, publicly announcing their split in October that year following the emergence of photos showing McGregor kissing his Fargo co-star, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Clara McGregor, Ewan’s eldest, was born in England on February 4, 1996. Initially resisting an acting career, Clara found her passion for the profession after some time modeling. She signed with Wilhelmina Models in 2017, graduated from New York University the next year, and even worked with Playboy and Bluebella. Clara, who identifies as bisexual, values working with brands that represent the LGBT+ community. She famously called her father’s girlfriend, Winstead, “a piece of trash” on Instagram, a comment she later regretted and apologized for in The Times.
Esther McGregor, 22
Born on November 7, 2001, Esther McGregor shares her older sister’s creative flair, engaging in music and modeling. She featured alongside Clara in a Fendi campaign in 2018 and is signed with the boutique agency Souls&Faces Cast. Ewan proudly remarked to The New York Times in May 2021 about visiting them on a New York photoshoot. Esther also pursues music with her band, French Thyme, and works as a tattoo artist in New York City, a passion she discussed with Washington Square News.
Jamyan McGregor, 23
Jamyan McGregor was adopted by Ewan and Eve from Mongolia in 2006 when she was four years old, after Ewan met her while filming a TV show in 2004. He detailed the profound impact of her adoption in his Apple TV+ docuseries, Long Way Up. Jamyan graduated from California’s Besant Hill School in 2020 and is studying criminal justice at Mitchell College, expecting to graduate in 2024.

The youngest daughter, Anouk McGregor, was adopted in early 2011 when she was just a few months old. In a 2021 interview with The New York Times, Ewan shared a quirky detail about an unplayed Obi-Wan doll from Anouk’s room, noting his children’s lack of interest in Star Wars.

In June 2021, Ewan and Mary Elizabeth Winstead welcomed their son Laurie McGregor, with Clara breaking the news on Instagram. Esther warmly introduced her little brother with a pirate-themed Instagram post. Ewan mentioned Laurie during his 2021 Emmy acceptance speech, expressing his eagerness to share the award with his son at home.
