Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s children have reached adulthood!
The iconic duo, known for hits like “Speed of Sound,” welcomed their two kids, Apple, now 19, and Moses, 18, during their 13-year union. Despite announcing their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014 and finalizing their divorce in 2016, the pair prioritized amicable co-parenting to provide a nurturing environment for their son and daughter.
Reflecting on their journey, Paltrow shared with Drew Barrymore in 2020, “In a way, my relationship with Chris is better [now]. So, I do think that it can be done.” Their commitment to putting their children first has been unwavering, a sentiment echoed by both parents.
Their dedication to family unity was evident even after Paltrow’s remarriage to Brad Falchuk in 2018, as she included Martin and their two children in her honeymoon plans.
In March 2023, during Paltrow’s trial following a ski accident in Utah, depositions from Apple and Moses were read aloud in court. Despite the ordeal, both children were not directly witness to the collision, yet their concern for their mother was palpable.

Apple Martin, 19
Apple Martin, at 19 years old, entered the world on May 14, 2004, in London, capturing global attention with her distinctive name.
Reflecting on the choice of name, Paltrow explained the sentimental origins during an interview with Oprah when Apple was just a few months old. She shared, “When we were expecting, her dad mentioned one day that if we had a girl, he thought Apple would be a sweet name. It painted such a beautiful picture for me; apples are symbols of sweetness, wholesomeness, and have biblical connotations. I found it charming. However, once she was born, it caused quite a stir internationally, which surprised me because there are named Rose, Lily, Ivy, June, and plenty of other lovely nouns.”
In January 2020, Martin recounted a humorous incident where he inadvertently embarrassed Apple at her first job.
He recounted the story on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, “I decided to surprise my daughter at the clothing store where she works. Well, not exactly a surprise, I just wanted to drop by. So, I picked up a T-shirt and joined the line to pay. There were two cashiers, and as luck would have it, Apple was at one of them.”
When Apple spotted her dad in line, she discreetly signaled for him to leave, clearly mortified by his presence. “Feeling utterly embarrassed, I sheepishly moved to the other queue, clutching my T-shirt, terrified of my daughter’s reaction. After paying for the shirt, I bought her some fudge, her favorite candy, and requested the cashier to give it to her. As I was leaving, she called out, ‘I love you, Dad!'”
Apple shares her father’s musical talents, evident when she performed Ariana Grande’s “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart” alongside him at a charity event in Malibu, California, in October 2016. Additionally, she earned a co-songwriting credit for “Let Somebody Go,” featuring Selena Gomez, on Coldplay’s album, Music of the Spheres.
Completing her freshman year of college in May 2023, Apple returned home to Los Angeles, where Paltrow warmly welcomed her.

Later in the month, Paltrow commemorated Apple’s 19th birthday with a heartfelt post, expressing, “I love you so profoundly and wholly; it’s hard to put into words. Witnessing you grow into a 19-year-old woman fills me with an indescribable mix of love, pride, and significance!”
In October 2023, Paltrow spoke fondly of her daughter in an interview with Bustle, describing her as “inherently kind, with values firmly grounded in the right place.”
Moses Martin, 18
Moses Bruce Paltrow Martin, now 18, entered the world on April 8, 2006, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, completing Martin and Paltrow’s family.
At the tender age of 4, Moses found himself playfully linked to Tim McGraw’s daughter, then 9 years old, sparking rumors of an arranged marriage when the families bonded while filming Country Strong.
In June 2020, during Paltrow’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon via Zoom, 14-year-old Moses made a surprise cameo, charming host Jimmy Fallon with his relaxed demeanor. Asked about his well-being, Moses shared, “Yeah, I’m doing my best, staying positive by finding things that entertain me.”
Fallon inquired about Moses’ musical pursuits, to which he replied enthusiastically, “Music is my passion. … Right now, I’m really diving into guitar. I used to focus on piano, but lately, it’s all about the guitar.”
Following in his family’s musical footsteps, Moses joined his father onstage at a Boys & Girls Club fundraiser in Malibu in October 2016, showcasing his vocal talents while Martin accompanied him on the guitar.
Not to be outdone, Moses also made a notable contribution to Coldplay’s album, Music of Spheres, earning a performer credit for his vocals on the chorus of the track “Humankind” at just 15 years old.
In April 2023, Paltrow penned a heartfelt Instagram tribute to mark Moses’ 17th birthday, capturing a selfie with her son and praising his exceptional kindness and musical talents. She gushed, “@mosesmartin, you are a remarkable, loving soul who fills our lives with joy. Your humor brightens our days, and your harmonies inspire us. I adore you more than words can express!”
Moses made another appearance on his mom’s Instagram feed two months later when she shared glimpses from their family vacation in Italy.
Reflecting on Moses’ upcoming departure for college in the fall, Paltrow expressed mixed emotions to The Sunday Times in March 2024, acknowledging a profound sadness tinged with anticipation for his future. She articulated, “It’s bittersweet. There’s a profound sense of loss, but it’s also what’s meant to happen. Your children are supposed to grow, thrive, and forge their paths. It’s exactly what you want, even if it means they leave the nest.”
