Once known as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after bachelors, George Clooney has embraced the role of a devoted family man alongside his wife, the esteemed lawyer and philanthropist, Amal Clooney. Reflecting on the profound impact of their union, the Midnight Sky actor candidly shared with GQ, “I didn’t know how un-full [my life] was until I met Amal. And then everything changed. And I was like, ‘Oh, actually, this has been a huge empty space.'” Their blissful journey led to the arrival of twins, Alexander and Ella, in June 2017, with George celebrating fatherhood at the age of 56.

Now, the Clooneys meticulously prioritize their family over career endeavors. George explained “In marriage, and now with the kids, you give away the selfishness of only looking out for yourself.” Despite his celebrity status, George humorously confessed to seeking assistance from a friend posing as Santa Claus to manage his twins’ misbehavior, a testament to the universal challenges of parenting. In December 2023, George revealed to “They’re still all into the Santa thing, which is very helpful because when my kids are acting poorly, let’s say in July, I [get] a call from Santa,” highlighting his creative approach to parenting.

Alexander Clooney, aged 6

George and Amal greeted their twins on June 6, 2017, at London’s St. Mary’s Hospital. Their son, Alexander, made his entrance first, at 12:54 p.m. While Hollywood often opts for more unconventional names for their offspring, the Clooneys intentionally chose timeless, modest names for their twins. “I didn’t want, like, weird-ass names for our kids,” George candidly expressed to AARP Magazine in 2021. “They’re already going to have enough trouble. It’s hard being the son of somebody famous and successful.” Now 6 years old, Alexander is said to bear a striking resemblance to his dashing father. “They’re too beautiful, simply adorable,” a source shared with in 2018. “One looks just like her mother and the other is the image of his father.”

Since their birth, George and Amal have been transparent about their twins’ distinct personalities. Alexander appears to be the more extroverted of the two, a trait evidenced when he unexpectedly joined his father’s interview with GQ in 2021. Additionally, he possesses a humorous side, as George revealed on the WTF with Marc Maron podcast, recounting their morning routine that never fails to elicit laughter. “Every morning, at eight o’clock, Alexander bangs on my bedroom door,” he recounted. “I go, ‘Who is it?’ And he goes, ‘It is I, Alexander Clooney.'”

Like many young boys, Alexander has developed a fondness for cars—a passion that can occasionally lead to precarious situations. “He goes outside and he hugs my car. ‘Car!’ and he hugs it,” George shared on the Ellen Show in 2019. “Which is bad when I’m driving. It’s really not good. He gets right in the wheel well,” he joked.

Ella Clooney, aged 6

Ella made her debut two minutes after Alexander at London’s St. Mary’s Hospital on June 6, 2017. Just as her brother inherited his looks from their father, Ella bears a striking resemblance to her mother. “My daughter looks exactly like Amal,” George shared with a few months post-birth in 2017. “She has big beautiful eyes … It’s incredible.” Unlike her brother, Ella tends to be more reserved. “Ella is very shy around adults,” George disclosed to in 2020. Providing further insight into Ella’s demeanor in a 2021 interview with The Guardian, George noted, “Alexander loves to laugh and Ella’s very serious, always making sure everybody plays by the rules.”

Nevertheless, it appears Ella has a mischievous streak. “My whole job, really, is to teach them terrible things,” George quipped to ET. “My daughter has now picked up the mantle. She used to think it was really gross, all the things we did, but then she saw how many laughs Alexander got and now she’s taken it up, too.” While Alexander leans towards cars, Ella displays a penchant for fashion. “My daughter is up in my wife’s closet with purses going, ‘Mine!’ ” George recounted to Ellen DeGeneres in 2019. “So I see this is going to be a fun, fun life for me.”

As the twins develop their distinct personalities, George savors every moment while they still regard him as cool. At the 2022 Kennedy Center Honors, where he was honored, George shared his kids’ perspective on the accolade with Extra. “They’re 5, so right now, I am golden,” he chuckled. Amal added, “They say, ‘Papa can fix everything but the weather.’ He can solve all of their problems and is the funniest person they have met.
