In a interview, Stefani shared that she, along with all three sons, has dyslexia, leading her to adopt a more disciplined parenting style than she anticipated. “I was in a band and free my whole life, so I always thought I would be really liberal with [my kids]. However, I’ve found that they feel safest with clear boundaries,” she explained.

Rossdale expressed in 2020 to that his sons motivate him to excel in his music career to make them proud. “I don’t want them to show my records to their friends and question what happened to me,” said the Bush lead singer. “I want them to brag, ‘My dad’s on fire.’ They inspire me to improve because I want them to appreciate my work.”

Stefani’s current husband, Shelton, also plays a significant role in raising the three boys. “I have a stepfather who is one of my heroes,” Shelton remarked in a KFROG interview. “I admire and respect him, and he’s been like a father to me, so I have a strong example of the type of stepdad I aspire to be. I take this role very seriously.”

He added, “I can’t imagine my life without these kids now.”

In June 2023, Rossdale disclosed on the Not So Hollywood podcast that he and Stefani have distinct parenting styles. “You can either co-parent closely or just parent independently, and I think we just parent,” he stated. “We’re very different which I think gives them a unique perspective.”

Later that year, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo supported their mother at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. “Being a mom is the greatest gift. You are my greatest blessings. I’m so proud of you guys,” Stefani remarked during her speech.

Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, 17

Stefani and Rossdale welcomed their first son, Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, into the world on May 26, 2006, in Los Angeles. Now 17, Kingston strikingly resembles his father.

In May 2021, Rossdale marked Kingston’s birthday with the sharing of two photos on social media. He affectionately captioned one of them, highlighting his son’s character: “You are my best focus and inspiration—you are smart, funny, and kind with oceans of empathy—to me, that’s all you need to make your mark. I could not be more proud of you, and I love you more every day.”

Kingston maintains his own Instagram account, where he often posts selfies with his girlfriend, makeup artist Lola Albert, and snapshots with his dad.

Music has also piqued Kingston’s interest. Rossdale, in a 2020 interview with shared, “We’re exploring all these different bands, including those from his generation. It’s fascinating, but I also encouraged him to understand the roots by introducing him to classic punk bands like the Sex Pistols and Gang of Four.”

“Kingston brings so much joy, especially when he’s playing guitar and raiding my wardrobe,” Rossdale added. “He often ends up looking better than me. In many ways, all three boys, all my children, are just better versions of myself. I’ve passed on my strengths to them.”

In August 2023, Kingston took to the stage for his first public performance at Shelton’s bar, Ole Red, in Oklahoma.

“King has been crafting some truly impressive songs. It’s different when it’s your own child—you naturally love everything they do, but these songs are exceptional,” Stefani expressed to after the performance. “I was moved to tears. It’s profound witnessing your children discover their talents.”

While on Jimmy Kimmel’s show in February 2024, Stefani couldn’t help but praise Kingston’s natural songwriting talent. “You’d be amazed. He’s an incredible songwriter, and it just came out of the blue. We were astonished, saying, ‘You’re kidding. You didn’t write that,'” she shared.

Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, 15

Stefani and Rossdale’s second son, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, came into the world on August 21, 2008, in Los Angeles.

Now, having just healed, he ended up breaking his left arm,” Rossdale explained. “I tended to his bandages this morning, but through it all, he’s been incredibly brave and strong. He’s a remarkably tough kid; I’d be worried sick if any of the others went through what he has because he’s definitely the most resilient.”

For Zuma’s 15th birthday in August 2023, Stefani posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. She shared a collection of photos showing Zuma’s journey over the years, featuring many joyful moments between them.

“Happy 15th birthday, Zuma!!! We love you more than anything 🎈🎉🎂,” her caption read, filled with love and celebration.

Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, 10

Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, born to Stefani and Gavin on February 28, 2014, in Los Angeles, is the youngest of their three children.

He was eagerly embraced by his older siblings right from the start. When Apollo was just 9 months old, Rossdale shared with that his older brothers, Kingston and Zuma, were very protective and fond of him. “Apollo is so tiny, and his brothers just adore protecting him. They were overjoyed when he arrived. They absolutely love him, and there’s no hint of jealousy—they genuinely care about him,” he explained.

In 2019, Apollo began his kindergarten journey, which Stefani described to Entertainment Tonight as simultaneously heart-wrenching and exciting for him. “I’ve got a baby in kindergarten now, and that was devastating. But he’s so thrilled and is doing incredibly well,” she remarked.
