Jeff Bridges might be “The Dude” to fans of The Big Lebowski, but to his three children—Isabelle, Jessica, and Hayley—he’s simply dad. Bridges and his longtime wife, Susan Geston, became parents for the first time in 1981 when they welcomed Isabelle into the world. At the time, Jeff was already a well-established movie star, working on 1982’s Tron with over a dozen films to his name. Despite his successful career, the Old Man actor has admitted that it came with its challenges, especially when it came to family life. “You’re trying to make good movies … it’s very self-involved,” he shared on The Off Camera Show in 2019. “I’m making money so we can afford to live the way we want, and the kids can go [to good] schools … but later on in my life, I’ve cried with my daughters … I’ve missed out on so much. Reflecting on raising his daughters, he added, “Everything happens so fast.” Jeff is incredibly proud of the women his daughters have become, with Isabelle as an author, Jessica as a musician, and Hayley pursuing a career in interior design. Each of them has had the opportunity to collaborate with their father on various projects. One thing that strengthened their bond even more was Jeff’s health struggles. His battle with cancer and two bouts of COVID-19 in recent years “heightened the experience of most of my philosophies in life,” he told PEOPLE in 2023. “It all gets down to that corny ‘L’ word—love,” the Bad Times at the El Royale star added. “[They] were so supportive during the cancer and COVID. It just made me realize how much they loved me, and how much I loved them.” Here’s everything you need to know about Jeff Bridges’ children: Isabelle, Jessica, and Hayley.

Isabelle Bridges Boesche, Age 43

Jeff and Susan Geston welcomed their first child, daughter Isabelle, on August 6, 1981. Over the years, the Tron: Legacy actor has often mentioned that Susan handled most of the parenting duties when their daughters were young, especially while they were living in their family home in Santa Barbara, as Jeff traveled the world shooting films.Isabelle always admired the strong bond between her parents, telling PEOPLE, “They love each other, but they also like each other. They spend time together and make an effort to ask each other questions about what the other is interested in.”Inspired by her parents’ relationship, Isabelle brought that same love and connection into her own marriage to college sweetheart Brandon Boesch, whom she met while they were both attending Pepperdine University. The couple exchanged vows at the family home in Santa Barbara in 2007.”I always dreamed of getting married at our house,” Isabelle shared with Inside Weddings. “I’ve known since high school that I was going to get married on 7/7/07. I don’t know how I knew, but I just did!”Over a decade later, their love remains strong. ”16 years ago I married my best friend,” Isabelle wrote on Instagram in 2023. “We made a life, babies, and magic together. I’m so in love! The couple made Jeff and Susan proud grandparents with the birth of their two children, Gracie and Ben. The kids affectionately call Jeff “Dudie” or “Dude-pa.”Today, Isabelle and her family reside in the Bay Area, where she runs her own business, The Mother’s Empowerment Sisterhood. She’s also an accomplished children’s book author, releasing her first title, Daddy Daughter Day, in 2020. Jeff even contributed as the illustrator for the project, which captured some of Isabelle’s cherished memories with him.“Like my father, I was away for much of Isabelle’s childhood due to my work in making movies, so I try my best to make up for some of that,” Jeff shared with Billy Shore on the Share Our Strength podcast. “We often need reasons to come together, and this project was a wonderful reason to reconnect with my daughter … [it was] a lot of fun!”

Jessica Lily Bridges, Age 41

Jessica Lily Bridges was born on June 14, 1983. While not much is publicly known about her childhood and teenage years, Jeff once shared a memorable moment when he brought his daughters to The Big Lebowski set. “I thought it would be fun,” he mentioned on The Off Camera Show. “The girls came, and I put the bowling pin hats on them, and I took a bunch of pictures.” However, the scene ended up being a bit more risqué than he anticipated. “I thought, ‘Why on earth did I invite my girls and my wife for that particular scene?’ ” he recalled. “What was I thinking?!”Jessica was the only one of his daughters to follow him into the entertainment industry. “Jessie, my middle daughter, we play music together all the time; she even opens for me sometimes. Music is our connection,” Jeff said, reflecting on their bond.

Her Instagram bio echoes this passion: “Music is the thing that makes me feel the most alive—listening to it, creating it, witnessing it!” Although Jessica keeps her personal life private, she doesn’t miss a chance to celebrate her special relationship with her dad. “Love ya, pops!!! Life sure is a wild ride with you by my side,” she wrote alongside a heartfelt Father’s Day post in 2015.

Hayley Roselouise Bridges, Age 38

Jeff and Susan Geston welcomed their youngest daughter, Hayley, on October 17, 1985. While her sisters have moved away from their hometown, Hayley still lives close by and enjoys spending a lot of time with her parents. “Hayley, my baby, she’s the only one who lives in Santa Barbara,” Jeff shared on The Off Camera Show. “She’s a wonderful interior designer, and we work together on houses.”

After the family settled in Santa Barbara in 1994, Hayley had the chance to travel and experience different cultures, which fueled her passion for interior design. After graduating from Loyola Marymount University, she pursued this passion professionally. On Instagram, Hayley often showcases her work through her business, Hayley Bridges Design, sharing the stunning transformations she creates, from elegant living rooms to serene outdoor spaces.Hayley was a tremendous source of support for Jeff during his battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2020 and his bout with COVID-19 in January 2021. Her upcoming wedding became a significant motivator for his recovery, as he dreamed of walking her down the aisle. “The first goal was how long can I stand up,” he told The Independent in 2022. “Finally, one day I said, ‘Maybe I can do it, you know.’ And it turns out I not only got to walk her down the aisle, but I also got to do the wedding dance. That was terrific.”Hayley married her longtime love, Justin Shane, in Santa Ynez, surrounded by family and friends, and Jeff couldn’t have been happier. He even delivered a heartfelt welcome speech, noting a special trait of Justin’s. “It touched on something I also mentioned in my vows, which is that kids and dogs love him,” Hayley shared with Brides. “I believe this to be a reflection of his wonderful energy.”
