Kevin Jonas is the ultimate girl dad. The musician and his wife, Danielle Jonas, met in 2007 during a vacation in the Bahamas and tied the knot in 2009. Since then, the couple has welcomed two daughters: Alena Rose, now 10, and Valentina Angelina, now 8.
Although Kevin is part of the Jonas Brothers and often away for work, the Claim to Fame host emphasizes the importance of family time and frequently shares sweet moments with his daughters on social media. In 2021, he opened up to PEOPLE about fatherhood, especially as a dad to girls, saying his favorite part is “all of it.” Growing up with four brothers, Kevin shared that being a girl dad has given him fresh insights: “I’m getting to relearn what young women want in their life from an early age, which is so cool to see because I didn’t experience it. It’s all new to me — definitely not to Danielle, but it’s all new to me, which is pretty awesome.”
Kevin and Danielle’s first daughter, Alena, was born on Feb. 2, 2014. The couple shared their excitement in a statement: “We are overjoyed at the birth of Alena Rose Jonas. She is precious! We could not be more excited to start building our family together. We want to thank our family and friends for their love and support, and our fans for all of their well wishes.”
Danielle recalled the unique way she shared the pregnancy news with Kevin in December 2013. “First, I took like 12 tests to confirm it,” she explained. “Then I took all the socks out of his drawer and filled it with diapers and a bib that said, ‘I love Daddy.’ I also put all the tests in there and a sign that said, ‘I’ll meet you in nine months.’” Kevin was elated, saying, “I was in shock. I was just like, ‘Oh my God, it’s happening! My life’s about to change completely!’”
The couple’s second daughter, Valentina, was born on Oct. 27, 2016. “We are so excited to welcome our new baby girl, Valentina Angelina Jonas, to the world today,” the couple announced. “She is healthy and beautiful, and we couldn’t be happier!”
In December 2016, Kevin and Danielle shared with PEOPLE how life changed with two kids and the heartwarming moment Alena met her baby sister. “I think [Danielle] was more of a wreck than anyone else,” Kevin shared. “It definitely became very real because you’re in the moment, you’re going through labor, and it’s euphoric. And then reality strikes when your other one walks in the door.” Danielle added, “It’s been crazy and a learning curve. It feels like you have five kids when you have two because you’re juggling. But [Alena’s] very, very good.”
During a 2019 appearance on The Late Late Show, Kevin shared Valentina’s special bond with his brother Nick. When asked about his daughters’ opinions on his brothers’ partners — Nick married Priyanka Chopra in 2018, and Joe wed Sophie Turner in 2019 — Kevin admitted that “they definitely do now,” though it was initially a bit rocky with Valentina. He recalled, “When she met Priyanka, Priyanka put her hand around his [Nick’s] shoulder like this, and every time … her hand would go around, and he was holding Valentina, she would just push it off, every time, just like constantly.” While Nick joked that Valentina was “very territorial,” Kevin assured, “they’re cool” now.
On August 19, 2012, Kevin and Danielle Jonas debuted their reality TV series, Married to Jonas, on E!. The show, which ran for two seasons, provided an inside look into their lives two years after getting married as they settled into their suburban New Jersey home. The series captured the couple’s journey through married life, balancing family, career, and all the highs and lows that came with it.
