Maci Bookout’s Journey to Motherhood: All About Bentley, Jayde, and Maverick Maci Bookout’s journey into motherhood began on 16 and Pregnant. The now-mother of three was expecting her first child, Bentley, when she appeared on the inaugural season of the MTV show. Following that, she joined the cast of Teen Mom, which later became Teen Mom OG, and welcomed her daughter Jayde and son Maverick.
I’ve realized that parenthood is hard work at any age, and that’s why it’s so important to wait until you’re really ready to start a family,” Maci shared on Instagram back in 2015. In a 2022 interview, the reality star opened up about her path to where she is today—being married and raising three kids. “It took a lot to get here,” she admitted, “It took the good and the struggles to get where I am now. Bentley Edwards, 15
Maci welcomed her “first love,” Bentley Cadence Edwards, on October 27, 2008, in Tennessee. Bentley is Maci’s eldest and the only child she shares with her high school boyfriend, Ryan Edwards. Maci’s pregnancy with Bentley was chronicled in the first season of 16 and Pregnant, which aired in 2009.
“Giving birth to my baby was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Maci shared on the show. “I kicked and screamed through over 30 hours of non-stop pain.” As Bentley has grown up in front of the cameras, Maci explained to that he’s quite used to being in the public eye. “Bentley, he’s the oldest Teen Mom kid. He was born on TV, so it’s kind of normal for him,” she said. Now that he’s older, he’s learned to navigate what he chooses to share, always under careful guidance from Maci.
Jayde McKinney, 9
Maci gave birth to her second child, Jayde Carter McKinney, on May 29, 2015. Jayde is Maci’s only daughter and the first child she shares with her husband, Taylor McKinney, whom she married in 2016.
Announcing Jayde’s birth on social media, Maci wrote, “She is beautiful and as healthy as can be!” When Jayde was just seven months old, Maci revealed to that her little girl was eager to crawl but found her adorable belly getting in the way. “She’s chunky—she definitely doesn’t miss a meal,” Maci joked. “She’s trying so hard to crawl, but her belly is slowing her down. I told her, ‘That happens to the best of us, Jayde, you’ll get there!
Maverick McKinney, 8
Maverick Reed McKinney, Maci’s youngest child, was born on May 31, 2016. Maci celebrated his arrival with a heartfelt post on social media: “Mr. Maverick Reed has officially made his debut and completed our family! So much love, so many blessings!”
She later introduced Maverick on Instagram with a sweet photo of him in a baseball-themed onesie that read “Team Dad,” captioning it, “Hi World. My name is Maverick, and I’m the cutest little guy in the world! Nice to finally meet you!” Like his siblings, Maverick has taken up wrestling and brings his own spunky energy to the McKinney family. Together, Bentley, Jayde, and Maverick keep life exciting for Maci and Taylor, making their family’s story one that continues to capture fans’ hearts.
