Mark Ruffalo is not just the strongest Avenger—he’s also a proud father of three. The Hulk actor and his wife of over 20 years, Sunrise Coigney, welcomed their first child, Keen, in 2001, followed by two daughters: Bella in 2005 and Odette in 2007. In a 2019 interview with, Ruffalo opened up about the challenges of juggling acting, environmental activism, and fatherhood. “It’s intense,” he said, especially when it comes to everyday tasks like laundry. “The times when my wife is gone, and I’ve had to take care of everything … the laundry alone is enough to destroy you.” Despite the challenges, Ruffalo praises Coigney as “a hero.” When he has downtime, Ruffalo and his family enjoy snowboarding, cooking, and gardening. As he shared, it’s not about what they do, but simply being together.
Keen Ruffalo, 23
Mark and Sunrise’s oldest child, Keen, was born on June 19, 2001, just a year after their wedding. Although Keen hasn’t fully stepped into the spotlight, he has made small cameos in his father’s projects, including Begin Again (2013) and Thor: Ragnarok. Keen was also by his dad’s side, along with his mom and sister Odette, when Ruffalo virtually accepted his 2021 Golden Globe for I Know This Much Is True. In his acceptance speech, Ruffalo thanked his family for their continued support.
Keen maintains a private Instagram account, despite having over 15,000 followers, and has attended red carpet events with his famous father, including the premieres of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Spotlight in 2015. Ruffalo often shares loving messages about his son, and for Keen’s 20th birthday in 2021, he posted a touching photo with the caption, “Happy Birthday, Keeno! 20 years to heaven. I’m so grateful you are my boy. I held you in my arms like a treasure. I hold you in my heart like a treasure … Proud of you, son.”
Bella Noche Ruffalo, 19
Bella Noche, Ruffalo and Coigney’s first daughter, was born on April 12, 2005. Ruffalo has spoken about how proud he is of Bella as she grows into her own person. “My daughter, Bella, so big and beautiful and coming into her own,” he captioned an Instagram post of her in 2021.
Bella has shared several red carpet moments with her dad, including as his date to the 2015 MTV Movie Awards, where they wore matching suits, and at the 2017 Roundabout Theatre Company’s Spring Gala. In 2022, Bella joined her family at The Adam Project premiere and made a heart sign alongside her dad and brother Keen at the debut of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
For Bella’s 18th birthday, Coigney posted a heartfelt message on Instagram: “The day of your birth was one of the most magical days of my life, and you have been magical ever since. We love you and are so proud of you.” Ruffalo also celebrated the milestone, writing, “Happy 18th birthday @belladogood. You live your life like a comet across the sky—burning bright and beautiful. Keep going, kid. So proud of you and who you are as you begin your adulthood. Xoxo.”
Odette Moon Ruffalo, 17
The youngest of the Ruffalo family, Odette, was born on October 14, 2007. During a visit to the set of Thor: Ragnarok in 2017, Ruffalo shared that his kids had fun dressing up as Dr. Seuss characters. “They were like, ‘The camera was on us. It was on us.’ They had a great day, which is exactly the experience I want them to have,” Ruffalo said. He also mentioned that his kids love his superhero role, with Odette proudly telling her friends, “My dad’s The Hulk.”
Odette has joined her family for various events over the years. In 2013, she attended an N.Y.C. screening of Frozen, where she had a playdate with Naomi Watts and her son, Sasha Schreiber. In 2016, she hung out with her sister Bella and their mom at a screening of The BFG. Coigney often posts birthday tributes to Odette, describing her as “always changing, always growing, always cool.” For her 16th birthday in 2023, Coigney posted a video with the caption, “HBD. Odette’s sweet 16! You’re so very very loved.”

Mark Ruffalo and Sunrise Coigney’s love story began in 1998 when they met in Los Angeles. Ruffalo has shared that it was love at first sight for him. “I saw her and was like, I’m going to marry that girl,” he told Men’s Journal. Before making it big in Hollywood, Ruffalo credits Coigney for supporting him through the tough times. “I was living in a converted garage, and she was there for that, she was game,” Ruffalo said. “She believed in me.” The couple married in June 2000 and welcomed three children together. In June 2023, Ruffalo and Coigney celebrated 23 years of marriage. Mark posted a throwback photo from their wedding, writing, “Happy 23 years, my friend, my partner, my lover.
