Patrick Mahomes Promised His Wife Brittany That the Chiefs Would Secure the Top Seed on Christmas So ‘We Can Go Have That Baby’

Patrick Mahomes is ready to celebrate both a Chiefs victory and the joys of family life with his wife, Brittany.
After leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a 29-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day, the 29-year-old quarterback humorously addressed his earlier promise during a post-game interview.
“I told my wife — my pregnant wife — that I was going to get her the No. 1 seed so we can go have that baby,” Patrick joked. “We got the 1 seed.”
The victory secured the Chiefs the top spot in the AFC, guaranteeing home-field advantage throughout the playoffs—a perfect Christmas gift for the team and the Mahomes family.
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, both 29, are proud parents to daughter Sterling Skye, born in February 2021, and son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, born in November 2022. Married since March 2022, the couple revealed in July that they’re expecting their third child—a baby girl—exciting fans with the news on social media.
In response to Patrick’s post-game quote, Brittany shared a sweet moment on her Instagram Story. Captioning a photo of the couple, she wrote, “Always keeping his promises,” accompanied by a teary-eyed smiling emoji and a heart, capturing the heartfelt moment.
Patrick celebrated the Chiefs’ victory with his go-to teammate, Travis Kelce, in a festive way—by cracking open two footballs filled with red velvet cake. While Kelce, 35, dove right in, Patrick held back with a grin, joking, “I’m watching my weight for playoffs.”
Meanwhile, Brittany and the kids, Sterling and Bronze, were fully tuned into the game. The Kansas City Current co-owner shared the family’s holiday cheer on her Instagram Stories, posting a sweet video of Sterling “baking and watching daddy” and adorable glimpses of “Game day snuggles” with little Bronze.
Brittany joined in the post-game fun by reposting a shot from Patrick and Kelce’s cake-filled interview. She captioned it, “What a Great Christmas!!!,” perfectly summing up the festive day.
Although Brittany couldn’t make it to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, the Mahomes family is a regular fixture at Patrick’s games. Just days earlier, they were on hand for the Chiefs’ Saturday, Dec. 21 victory over the Houston Texans. Little Sterling stole the show, dressed in Chiefs gear and wearing ear-protecting headphones as she cheered on her dad.
