Patrick Stewart is a proud father of two children — Daniel Stewart and Sophie Stewart. The Star Trek actor welcomed his kids with his first wife, Sheila Falconer, whom he married in 1966. The couple split in 1990, and Patrick has since remarried twice: first to Wendy Neuss from 2000 to 2003, and then to his current wife, Sunny Ozell, whom he wed in 2013.
Like his father, Daniel is also an actor. Based in England, he has appeared in plays on both sides of the Atlantic and has worked with Patrick on three projects: the 1993 thriller Death Train, the 2015 Starz sitcom Blunt Talk, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. “I think it’s a great thing that we’re both in the same profession. It has brought so much into both our lives that we can share and enjoy talking about. It’s terrific,” Patrick told USA Today in 2015. Patrick and Falconer welcomed Daniel on Oct. 20, 1967. “I loved Daniel when he was little, and when he was a baby, I loved holding him. It was fantastic,” Patrick told about his firstborn’s infancy. Daniel grew up in the world of theater — his dad is an actor, and his mom is a dancer and choreographer. He mentioned on the Grit podcast in 2021 that his “parents’ dinner parties, now, are a who’s who of the British theater aristocracy.
In a 2012 interview with the U.K.’s Metro newspaper, Daniel said that his dad “was very good at exposing his children to the artistic world,” playing them classical music and ensuring they had access to books. This exposure extended to rock music as well, with Patrick gifting his son Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here after Daniel bought Sham 69’s The Kids Are United. Daniel attended a rural school outside of Stratford-upon-Avon, England, where his dad worked with The Shakespeare Theatre Company, and later attended The Latymer School in West London, which had a “thespian bent,” according to Metro. The same year Patrick began Star Trek: The Next Generation, Daniel started drama school at the California Institute of the Arts.

Patrick and Falconer’s daughter, Sophie Alexandra Stewart, was born in 1972. “When my daughter was born, it just happened to be in a time when my work was slowing down,” Patrick told. “The first two years of her life I was very much a caretaker because her mother was a wonderful dancer and appeared in musicals. I took over the job of being mom and dad, and I loved it. It was marvelous.” Sophie leads a more private life than her parents and brother but has made a handful of red carpet appearances over the years.
She accompanied her dad, along with Daniel and Patrick’s then-girlfriend Neuss, to the 44th Annual Drama Desk Awards in N.Y.C. in 1999, and was her dad’s date to the 2003 premiere of 2 Fast 2 Furious and the 2009 Laurence Olivier Awards, both in London. She and her husband, Wayne, also attended the premiere of Star Trek: Nemesis in London in 2002. Sophie and Daniel encouraged and “teased” Patrick about his initial Star Trek audition, and after he got the role, Patrick said, “they were quite proud that Dad was captain Jean-Luc Picard.
